Sameera versatility as an actress and dancer of Indian classical training made her perfect for movie soundtracks. She debuted in a video clip to see and kick started her film career as one of the best actresses in India and has participated in over fifteen films for four years. She has demonstrated her ability to create multiple characters in films such controversial blockbuster Musafir, where she was a rape victim who takes revenge on Kaalpurush - Memories in the Mist plays, art house cinema, where Sameera plays a double role of homemaker and a middle-class prostitute, the highest distinction of India, the National Award and received recognition on the festival circuit.
Sameera was credited with having two independent films at the Toronto Film Festival 2007. Migration, a short film directed by the legendary Mira Nair, in which she plays the role of a housewife suffering from the disease and voyeurs, her second film with Buddhadeb Das Gupta.
